Understanding the pathogenic mechanisms that cause virus-induced disease of the central nervous system as well as how the immune system response to microbial invasion of the brain is the focus of my research. I will use advanced approaches, such as live intravital imaging and histocytometry, to gain a comprehensive understanding of cellular dialogues at the brain-immune interface by using two well-characterized models of CNS infection – lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV).
